Job Responsibilities:
Project Engineer

 Position Location: Columbia, SC
R.C. Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to join our South Carolina Team. This individual will serve as the deputy to the Project Manager and act as the principal representative of the Project Manager on site for day-to-day operations. They will work closely with the entire project team, to include the Superintendent and Quality Control Manager, to support all aspects of construction. This position requires an individual who is driven, willing to learn, and can actively participate in dynamic problem-solving in a complex environment.

 Principle Responsibilities:
Project planning, coordination, and scheduling
Manage equipment and material Deliveries
Coordinate with subcontractors or suppliers for Quality Control requirements
Maintain project documentation
Assist Project Manage with cost and scope control
 
 ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: 
Assist with coordination of the implementation of a project, project schedules/forecasts, daily operations of field work activities and organization of subcontractors
Use of effective communications between engineering, technical, construction, and project control groups to assist the Project Manager 
Electronically file and log project data (drawings, subcontractor quotes, RFIs, photos and inspection reports, etc.)
Assist Project Manager and Construction Quality Control Managers in tracking and managing submittals
Attend weekly site meeting and prepare meeting minutes; review with Superintendent and Project Manager for potential cost changes
Review of deliverables
Bill of materials creation and maintenance
Regular project status reports
Any and all duties assigned by supervisory level mentors throughout the internship (Pre-Construction Director, Estimator, Construction Quality Control Manager, Site Safety Health Officer, Project Administrator, Engineer, Superintendent, and the Project Manager)
Abide by all policies set by company in employee manual 
Abide by and follow all safety regulations, maintain a safe and hazard free work environment, identify and report all potential hazards to proper personnel. 
 

Job Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (I.E. Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, etc.) OR
4+ years’ experience in construction
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Calm and professional demeanor
Superior written and verbal communication skills

 Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant degree and construction experience
Proficient with HCSS, Procore and P6
Knowledge of concrete paving operations
Current industry certifications (I.E. OSHA 30, USACE/NAVFAC CQCM, ACI Level 1, ACI Transportation Inspector, etc.)
 

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

 
Must be able to multi-task (prioritize work), thrive in a fast-paced team environment, have great attention to detail, and possess excellent organizational skills
Must be able to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) with subcontractors, suppliers, design professionals, Superintendent and Project Manager
Must be able to take direction and follow instructions
Proficient in using a pc and be willing to learn how to use new software applications
Be able to obtain and maintain military base access
Have a reliable method of transportation to and from the jobsite

Ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places and uneven areas
Ability to repeatedly stoop, kneel, squat, crawl and twist throughout the workday and workweek
Ability to frequently lift and /or push/pull up to 30 pounds up to 50 feet
Ability to frequently lift to 30 pounds up to 3 feet off the ground
Ability to repeatedly operate a 12-pound sledgehammer throughout the entire workday and workweek
Ability to climb up and down a 6-foot step ladder and balance
Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift in all weather and temperature extremes
Vision adequate to perform all tasks

 WORK ENVIRONMENT: 
Employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed to perform job tasks

Employee is regularly exposed to a variety of inclement weather conditions such as: cold, wet, hot, and/or humid conditions
