Paving Foreman

Job Responsibilities:
We are hiring for immediate placement of an experienced “hands on” Concrete Place and Finish Foreman to work at our many sites, primarily in the Southeast region of the United States. Significant travel is required for this position. We are looking for a “road warrior”. The work schedule varies with the project. At times you will be working 6-7 days a week, 10 hours a day for a month. Then you could be assigned to a job that requires a 5-day week with 8 hours a day.This is a career opportunity not just a job. The person we hire will be a “fair and square” manager, who is willing to do “whatever it takes” to get the job done, safely, correctly and on time. The right individual walks off the job today already planning how to be more productive tomorrow. This person believes that high quality work is not a choice but a requirement. Strong leadership skills are required to be able to lead your crew in a busy environment, and still effectively communicate with the Paving Superintendent. You must demonstrate supportive behavior in alignment with management and be able to redirect unproductive behavior without the need for confrontation.You will need the ability to communicate effectively with different personality styles


Job Responsibilities:
  • Successfully manage a crew of 8-10 people
  • Manage all phases of the paving process
  • Maintain communication with the Paving Superintendent regarding progress, delays, etc.
  • Follow all established RC Construction safety policies
  • Monitors job specifications and ensure quality final product
  • Assures job progresses according to plan

Job Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing concrete paving crews
  • Knowledge of concrete placements and finishing processes
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings
  • Airport paving experience
  • Experience with set up and operation of Gomaco or similar Slip Form Paving Machines
  • Basic computer skills
  • Verifiable references
  • Must be able to obtain access to military bases across the United States
  • Army Corps of Engineers or FAA experience a plus
  • ACI Certifications will be given preference > ACI Flatwork Finishers, Grade I Tech, Transportation Inspector
Physical Demands
  • Ability to work overhead
  • Ability to use hands to grasp
  • Ability to reach with arms
  • Ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places and uneven areas
  • Ability to repeatedly stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist throughout the workday and week
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or push/pull up to 30 pounds up to 50 feet
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 30 pounds up to 3 feet off the ground
  • Occasionally lift and/or push/pull approximately 112 pounds up to 25 feet
  • Occasionally lift approximately 112 lbs. to a surface approximately 12 inches off the ground
  • Ability to repeatedly operate a 12lb sledgehammer throughout the entire workday and week
  • Ability to climb up and down a 6 foot step ladder and balance
  • Concrete Paving Foreman
  • Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift in all weather and temperature extremes
  • Vision adequate to perform all tasks

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed to perform job tasks
  • Employee is regularly exposed to noise, dust, and various types of smells
  • Employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
  • Employee must be able to properly use and handle toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Employee is regularly exposed to wet, hot, and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, and outside weather conditions
  • Employee is expected to work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work area
