Loader Operator

FT/PT Status:Regular Full Time

Job Responsibilities:
  • Operate loader controls to lower and tilt buck and drive forward to force bucket into bulk material; Move lever to raise and tilt bucket when filled, or to dump material
  • Follow site grading and operations plans, read grade stakes and operate in a medium to fine grade environment
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment
  • Perform miscellaneous construction task as assigned
  • Conduct a complete pre-/post-shift safety inspection daily
  • Operate loader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored
  • Comply with the Operations & Maintenance Guide for our core and secondary equipment

Job Qualifications:

  • 3 years’ experience in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator
  • At least 1 year experience operating a wheel/front end loader
  • Possess a working knowledge of construction/equipment safety
  • Reliable method of arriving to and leaving from the jobsite
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Due to high security requirements of this project, all applicants must be able to obtain and maintain clearance for military base access by way of a Department of Defense background check.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to maintain daily records
Communication Skills-. Must be able to understand information, ideas, direction and perform the task or project discussed.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to work overhead
  • Ability to use hands to grasp
  • Ability to reach with arms
  • Ability to work up to a 16-hour shift in all weather and temperature extremes
  • The Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The Heavy Equipment Operator has a physically strenuous and demanding job. They will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
